If you’ve been following along, you know I’ve been showcasing Detroit’s incredible transformation over the past few years. The energy in the city right now is unmatched, and there’s truly never been a better time to spend a day exploring Downtown Detroit.

If you’re looking for a simple, fun, and well-rounded itinerary, let me point you toward one of the best stretches in the city: Lower Woodward.

Start at Campus Martius Park

There’s no better place to begin your day than Campus Martius Park and there’s a reason it’s consistently ranked as one of the top public squares in the country. No matter when you visit, there’s always something happening.

From live events and seasonal markets to watch parties for major sporting events, you never quite know what you’ll walk into. You might just find yourself surrounded by hundreds of people taking in the atmosphere during a World Cup match or enjoying live entertainment on a sunny afternoon. It’s the heartbeat of downtown and the perfect place to soak in Detroit’s energy.

Just around the corner, you’ll find Toastique, a bright, modern café that’s ideal for starting your day.

Whether you’re in the mood for gourmet toast, smoothie bowls, fresh juices, or a great cup of coffee, this spot delivers. It’s light, fresh, and exactly what you need to fuel up before a day of exploring.

Explore the GM Entrance One & Hudson’s Detroit

As you make your way north along Woodward Avenue, be sure to stop into GM Entrance One, located on the ground floor of Hudson’s Detroit.

This free, public showroom features rotating exhibits that showcase innovation, design, and the future of mobility. It’s a quick but worthwhile stop that adds a unique, interactive element to your day downtown.

Shop Along Woodward Avenue

Lower Woodward has quickly become one of the best shopping corridors in the city. As you continue walking, you’ll pass a growing lineup of popular retail stores including Nike, Tecovas, Alo, Free People, Timberland, Apple, and more.

Whether you’re browsing or ready for a little retail therapy, this stretch makes it easy to spend a few hours exploring.

Dinner at Adelina

After a full afternoon, wrap up your day with dinner at one of my personal favorites: Adelina.

This spot delivers on every level—great food, craft cocktails, and an atmosphere that feels elevated without being over the top. Whether you choose to dine inside or sit out on the patio overlooking Woodward Avenue, it’s the perfect place to relax and take in the city as the day winds down.

Why Lower Woodward?

What makes Lower Woodward so special is how easy it is to experience so much in just a few blocks. You’ve got world-class public spaces, great food, shopping, and entertainment all within walking distance.

It’s the kind of place where you can plan a full day or just show up and let the city surprise you.

No matter what you end up doing, one thing is always true: it’s a good time in Detroit.
